Cuckoo's Calling

The Cuckoo's Calling - Robert Galbraith

4.5 stars - read in both kindle and audible versions through whispersync/immersion reading
Beautiful writing and fabulous mystery. Hands down this book conveyed a hangover perfectly - no splash the face in the morning and the character is fine - the main character still suffered by late afternoon the next day. It is the beautifully descriptive language painting mental pictures that stays with me.

"Strike waited, phone in hand, in the peaceful, leafy square, while the gamboling children played with their hoops and their beanbags, and a tiny silver plane drew a thick white line across the periwinkle sky."

While initially I had a hard time getting into the book I came to love the characters and thoroughly enjoyed the narrator of the Audible version.
