Screwball comedy
I think everyone likes a good screwball comedy from time to time. Eula May comes home to teach dance after a failed Hollywood attempt. Many of the characters in the small Kentucky town were quirky but none really zany. There is decades old gossip about Eula May being born out of wedlock and a nun collecting funds for pagan children through showing a Weeping Madonna statue.
The plot is overly contrived and too far removed from reality while the main character, Eula May, is TSTL. Instead of keeping me amused, the book kept annoying me and it was a DNF at 62% - pretty sure I know who did it but find I don't care enough to find out if I am right.
